The Who---Good Timing, Bad Timing

I have to admit...I was shocked when I heard the news about John Entwistle. I remember listening to the Who over and over again as a youngster. I remember practicing Pinball Wizard on the guitar over and over again...frustrated that i couldnt come close to making myself sound like Peter Townsend. I had the black and white poster of Peter Townsend in his classic "round House" pose on my wall behind my bedroom door.

Many a time i could hear my mother yelling "TERRY....TURN THAT DOWN!!!" as Won't Get Fooled Again blared through my speakers.

I thought today...what terrible terrible timing. Here they are...in Vegas all psyched up to start their tour. Yes, tomorrow night would be the big show to start it all. Their last big tour. I was thrilled to hear they were doing it. I thought: What bad timing...he was still way to young. What bad timing.

Then I thought...wait a minute. Bad timing? maybe not. Maybe it was perfect timing for him. I thought...this is the way I want to go. He'd made it again. After all these years...the people all still flocked to see them. After all these decades....here he is...in Vegas....kicking off a big tour. I bet he went to sleep with a huge smile on his face. And you know what....I its my time...when i go....I want to go in my sleep, with a smile on my face.

I'm going to pull out my old record now,(I still have them all) and play Boris The Spider
