9 months & 11 days . . . .

.... since the fateful day in September, 2001 that changed the world forever. We dedicated our own memorial to those involved in those tragedies today.

This memorial is in remembrance and in honor of all the people affected by the devastating attack on the United States of America on September 11, 2001. Four domestic airlines were hijacked by terrorist and used as bombs to cause as much destruction and loss of life as possible.

The concept of this garden emerged from compassion from the victims, survivors, and the rescue and recovery workers. The symbolic design was conceived by Bob D. Whitman. The eagles represent America's freedom. The pentagon shape represents the United States Government.

The twin Granite towers represents the New York World Trade Center Towers, the major disaster area. The other granite towers are in memory of the lives lost on American Airlines Flights Nos. 93 and 175. Sacrifices made by the New York Fire and Police Departments, the U.S. Armed Services, and medical personnel are memorialized by these towers. The three flags flying high above the memorial are reminders of the crash sites: New York City, Arlington, Virginia and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The supporting flagpoles honor the all the rescue and recovery personnel. The German Shepard is a tribute to the faithful, hard working canines used in the rescue and recovery.

Soil from the three crash sites is incorporated into the soil of this garden, making this hallowed ground. Other portions of the soil are entombed in three special containers.

September 11, 2001, changed our lives forever. We hope this memorial garden will give some solace to a grieving nation, that we shall not forget the more than 3,000 lives lost. That day is a horrible example of what man can do to fellow man. We hope the final conclusion to the "War Against Terrorism" will bring peace to our world.

In attendance today were Tom Sullivan who was here on the groundbreaking and Neal King both of whom are New York City firefighters that were at the scene that day. Also in attendance were some of the families who lost loved ones. While there were a few ammenities that have been delayed, we feel that the memoral is now complete. May God look down and smile on our endevors and say "Good wook!"

Thanks,
MWP
