Re: THE END OF CHIPPING AS WE KNOW IT

It is interesting reading this thread. I just got home from LV this morning. On Wednesday Night, the 12th, I want with some friends to Hard Rock for dinner and then to the casino for a few hands of Blackjack and some slots. At $10 a hand I didn't last very long. I had already gotten a Rockin Horses and 2 Black Crows at the table along with a couple $1 tokens. Reading this thread it may explain the response I got when I asked if they had any other collectable chips. I thought it a little odd that the cashier quickly said they didn't have any other chips available. She was nice and polite enough but it just seemed a little bit quick of a response. All of the chips I got while playing were Black Crows with the exception of the one Rock N Horses(?).

Unrelated to this specific topic I will add my chipping results from this trip. I arrived on Sunday after all the festivities so I didn't get a chance to meet any familiar names and do any buying or trading. I didn't get to many places I wanted to go due to changes in our itinerary. Monday was spent shopping at Desert Passage and at The Venetian. Who goes to Vegas to Shop. mad The Bowling Tournement I was in ran long and dinner didn't finish till 11 which killed Tuesday. I didn't make it to Palms and to Downtown or most everywhere else I wanted to go. I did get to Paris where the $10 limit and 8 deck hand shuffled game took longer than I had to play much. I thought it was interesting that they had the Bally's and the Paris chips mixed in the rack. Both sets of chips were thouroughly worn. I didn't care much for the Bally's and Already have the Paris. I thought it interesting also that their rack seemed to be set up with the Bally's and the Paris chips alternating perfectly through the tray. Bally's/Paris/Bally's/Paris... I did play some at HR and of course played at our hotel, The Orleans. While there I picked up a nicely worn $5 house chip that I thought had some nice cheracter and 1 First Poker Tournement and a y2K chip that were in Very Good condition. It always amazes me how they can always have these LEs in their racks and they seem to be in such good condition. I had one good run at Roulette but didn't take any chips. I am afraid of getting busted. vbg I was taken though by the cheracter of their Roulettes and was very tempted to take one of the white chips. The dirt in the letters stands out so nicely, especially on the whites. If only I wasn't such a coward. At the airport, D-Gates, toward the end of the concourse, I hit a slot for 3 Silver Strikes. Similar to my last experience at McCarran I got the first token with less than $2 bucks played and 2 more before hitting the $10 point. I figured what the heck and continued to play my $20 and didn't win any others. Last time I played the airport for SSs I got 7 on $10.

I hope Benny is wrong and that Gaming wont squelch or stop the production of LEs. I also hope the nuissance of too many complaints against HR and other LE producing casinos doesn't cause them to reassess the value of producing chips. However, I have plenty of nice pristine LE and Commemoratives and will probably continue to buy new ones that I like. If the unfortunate prophesy that is being mentioned becomes a reality I may have to regress back to picking up some of the game worn chips. I have really taken an appreciation for the dirty chips. I was pretty dissappointed that I didn't get to Fitz's and to Horseshoe. I saw some good worn chips at Fitz and someone from here told me to check the shoe.
