Re: fake chips at the convention

Gene, I have only been in the chip hobby for three years, so please excuse my ignorance when I ask you this question. I just don't understand what the purpose of buying a "fake" or "counterfeited" chip would be. I can understand the desire to purchase something like a "fantasy" chip, but those are WELL documented as such. The kind of chips you have on "order" are just plain counterfeited and I don't understand why any long term, ethical, chip hobbyist such as yourself would want to put them in your collection. Isn't it possible that someday, without your knowledge or consent, one or more of those chips could find their way in to the mainstream collecting arena? Do you just use them as a benchmark as to what a counterfiet chip looks like? I mean no ill will with this question, Gene. Just trying to learn
