Since I have not been able to get a sure answer on the "history" of the Magic Carpet Sweepstakes chip from the Aladdin, I went straight to the source. I contacted Fred Lewis (Media relations) at the casino and asked for his help. I inquired as to what the chip represented and that i would appreciate any information he could provide. I am thankful for his assistance and offer the following information for the club.
The Magic Carpet Sweepstakes is a promotional event that is still running at the Aladdin. In the beginning they gave away a trip to Dublin, Ireland. The current prize is $20,000 cash. Slot card holders receive a drawing entry for every 50 points they put into their account. The entries are then placed in a drum for a drawing later in the evening. Table gamers get an entry for every 50 points as measured by the hours they play at the rate of $50 per hour.
Mr. Lewis told me the chip merely represents the magic carpet promotional event. He also told me that to his knowledge there is no chips available from any of the cages or tables. It's anybodys guess how many (of the chips shown below) are circulating around. Happy Chippin!!!
