PLEASE be advised that the rumor of jdbgmgr.exe is a virus is a HOAX
It is a problem though it is causing an email STORM! We have received 91 emails (& I'm sure a few more to come) either telling me about the virus or telling me it is a hoax in just the past few days. We DO APPRECIATE these warnings but I think there may be a better way to communicate information like this.
#1 MAKE SURE it is valid
#2 Post it in a public place (like this bulletin board)
#3 NOTICE who sent you the email and don't just "Blanket Send" your address book to those who will NOT see the PUBLIC notice
People who send these hoaxes sometimes are trying to 'create' just the email 'panics' that it causes
from well meaning folks like us. We JUST went through this on Mike's company network, so I knew it was coming. This very type of thing used to bury people in email for a few days then we (the company) became uniform in posting warnings. They now FWD information / warnings to the GIS (computer group) then IF it is true they will publish (to every computer) a warning via the network. We can utilize this board much in the same way. I am sure I am not the only one who gets loaded up when these well meaning warnings come out. Hopefully this will CUT DOWN on them as many will come from outside our group anyway.
