Mother-of-Pearl Awareness: grin

Mother-of-Pearl (or Nacre), the interior shell of the pearl oyster, is the same substance as pearls (calcite and calcium carbonate). The material used for chips and plaques was cut from the flatest portion of large shells. The chips and plaques are natural, solid shell as it came from the sea and not made from any ground (powder) compositions.
