The only chips that casinos normally give you troulbe with are those under $1 or roulette chips. It costs them about $1 to make a chip and they don't want to run out and have to reorder. At roulette you can buy in for any amount and chose the denomination of the chips. They don't want you to take the chips for a $1 buy in game and come back later and put them back at a $25 buy in game. BTW - they would be more than just unhappy if you did that. You would end up in jail and make entry into that famous little "Black Book" of people banned from all of the casinos. As far as taking $1 or $5 chips. I have never had a problem although some of the riverboats have signs saying that they can't be taken from the premisis.
