Flamingo cuff links only on loan

They are on loan to photogragh. Duke also let me borrow some wallets from the Avenue for photo. He was curious what the wallets might be worth to a collector. He also gave me some ten cent Avenue tokens, which I did not have, and an Avenue blue 181 chip in prime condition. I was very happy!! He told me stories about Red Masterson of the Merchants Club. He said Red used to love ice cream and almost every day would walk down York street to 3rd St. to get some. One day he was tipped off that there was a contract out on him so he went a differnt way. He saw the guys in a car waiting for him, knocked on their car window and asked if they were waiting for him. Before they could react he shot and killed both of them.....Another story was about Johnny Peluso's sister Helen. Duke and some friends were at the Newport Yacht Club late one night, about 3 AM. Helen was trying to close the place and some folks knocked on the door and wanted in. She said "we're closed". They were roudy and said " we hear people in there". She said "we're closed". When they insisted she stuck a shot gun out the door and fired it. They got the message........Another story about the fire that detroyed the Avenue Club. Duke said he and a few buddies were sitting at a table in the back of the bar area when one of them noticed some one going into a mop closet. At fisrt no one gave it much mind, but he decided to see who it was. Duke opened the closet door and a guy ran past him and almost knocked him down. They still didn't think a whole lot of it. This was in the late afternoon. Then around 6 PM there was an exposion and flame shot ten feet out of that broom closet. The place burnt down many chips and two poeple were lost. The next day George Ratterman, A Newport city offical, pulled Duke aside and said how sorry he was. He said " I didn't think they would go that far". To this day Duke thinks that some one working for Bobby Kennedy's anti- gambling group planted the bomb.
