While I certainly agree that you have the right to do business this way if you wish, I can't help but wonder when you say

"I do not feel it is my job to spend my money to insure something that I know left my possession in tack."

If you feel the same way when you purchase items from an online store. Lets say you buy a book from Amazon and it never arrives. Would you accept an answer from them that they sent it so its not their responsibility?
