Culinary strike during convention

Several of the members have concerns regarding the possibility of the Culinary Union in Las Vegas, becoming involved in a strike during out convention.

I have spoken with the Manager of Catering at the Tropicana, and while he said noting is absolutly certain, he feels that the strike, if it does occur, will not have any affect on our convention as far as catering. Our biggest event is the Wednesday night banquet and being a buffet, does not require a lot of additional help. He feels that the hotel can handle the banquet with no problems. After Wednesday, our only catering issues are snacks for several of the events which should not pose any problems. Our tabel set up is done by an outside company. I spoke with them and they should not have any problems as long as they are not blocked from delivering. They are non-union.

The only problem that may be noticable by any of our members, whether staying at the Trop, or any other hotel, may be service provided by housekeeping. More news, as it happens. Otherwise, looking forward to seeing everyone in June. Have a safe trip, and a great time at the convention.
