My comment re identifying ...

... David Whalen's work applied only to brass core chips (which I believe can be identified).

I have not closely examined any other repair jobs. If Gene says he can't tell, I'm satisfied that they are going to be very difficult if not impossible to distinguish from the real thing.

BTW, my inquiry had nothing to do with chip repairs -- I discussed this with David and looked at a few of his chips only out of curiosity. I had no complaint from anyone on that subject and I was primarily concerned with the sale as genuine of non-genuine brass cores.
