Re: A last word on scanning
In Response To: A last word on scanning ()

Rich,
I just had a bad experience in the last two weeks on a different collectible.
I posted an item.
8 hours later someone that I do not know posted the exact same item.
They used my scan, my exact description and put it up for a 40% lower starting price.
I contacted Ebay and after 3 days of emails and my signing a document, Ebay ended the other person's auction.
Two days later, the same person posted the same scan modified by cutting it in half and showing only one side and changing the description.
This is just plain wrong! Believe it or not, it takes quite a bit of effort to scan everything and write descriptions. Why should someone else profit from my work. I have no problem with people borrowing my scans if they ask and are using it for their private use or for other public use, like Greg's Chip Guide. But people should not use someone else's scan for profit, without getting their permission.
When I sold my riverboat chips on Ebay, I used Greg's numbers in the description, but I first asked Greg's permission.
Thanks--Alan.
