You suggest that the owner of the image on the chip could prevent an image of the chip from being posted.

Imagine you own a corvette and you decide to take a picture of your corvette to publish with your for sale ad. GM created that corvette and the design, can they prevent you from publishing a picture of your corvette?

The owner of the original artwork on the chip has the right to prevent its reproduction but that right is not absolute and boundless.

This is not an area of law with which I am familiar, but I am pretty confident that Randy has the right to publish that image (at least in the context in which he did).
