Sept. 1999 I convinced eBay to allow "illegal"
In Response To: Ebay Policy ()

September 1999 eBay cancelled some of my auctions because I used the expression "illegal chip." And they just did it again August 2002. Like with you, the bums there did it to me and left alone the many others whom they could have discovered with a simple search. As though they really care.

I had more energy and time in 1999 than I do now, and I wrote them about the issue and won, then. A Lisa Laursen at eBay Customer Support handled my case (KMM4337973COKM) and finally agreed with me. She said in part, "Yes, you may use the term illegal chip. You need not include casino in the sentence. However, it would be a good idea to state in your description these are not actually illegal. ...."

I had explained to her what we know -- that "illegal chip" is the chip collector's term for very old obsolete gambling chips that were used in unlicensed clubs, and that today they can not be used for any illegal purpose and are just collectible.
