That would explain it. I did not realize that dice were not legal in California.

I agree with you about not playing with actual dice... For me, the game would be boring and not much fun not seeing those dice bounce around the table. This is the one game where you are responsible for your own fate when you choose to throw them and that is what makes it enjoyable for me.
