Golden Phoenix in Reno--Formally the Flamingo

We were lucky enough to be able to hold our latest Norcal chapter meeting yesterday at the new Golden Phoenix-formally the Flamingo Hilton in downtown Reno.

This is all do in thanx to Todd Dingley, our chapter president.

I did not get to see much of the hotel but the meetings rooms sure were convenient to get to via the Valet parking. The Hotel is open, but if I read the signs correctly the casino won't open until the latter part of the summer.

The hotel sure was going overboard to make us happy as they provided snacks and soft drinks free of charge.

There is a new slot card casino that opened recently but they don't have slot cards. Instead they do have a single video Blackjack table open in the evenings (at least on Friday and Saturday.)

I'm being evasive regarding the name because I can't remember it but it use to be where the old Gamblers Saloon or casino use to be on Virginia street. They do have $5.00 and $25.00 chips but we just didn't stay around to get any. Instead, I am having Al Golovin at alisez@aol.com get them for me as he does all my Reno chips. He only charges $7.00 each for them so if you are interested and don't have anyone else you deal with, give him a try.
