I think that the boneyard has been "clean-up" or removed. I remember watching one of those Travel Channel specials on Vegas, and they mentioned one of the last things they did was film part of the movie "National Lampoons Vegas Vacation". After the filming they began to recycle most of the items and restore the few that are now on display at the end of the Freemont Street Experience.

When I was in Vegas last September, I saw the few signs they have on display. Each one has a nice plaque that mentions who donated the money to restore the sign. I thought maybe it would be a good idea for the CC>CC to sponsor a sign to be restored. Wouldn't it be cool to have the big Silver Slipper in operation again thanks to the CC>CC :-)
