Re: Gene saw them - they are the K's

Janice is a collector. She has been collecting several years, mostly LE's and mostly ones I have been associated with. She is not versed in obsolete chips. She had never heard of an arodie or a di swirl before Wednesday night.

A guy walked into where she works and tried to play the Shoe chips on the table. A club member was there playing and she said, he told her they were $300 chips. Somewhere along the line the mold got changed from arodie to Di swirl by the time Janice called me. I posted the "Step Lightly" post because I felt a lot of people were aware of the chips. Also if the guy was out trying to play them others would know about them. I was told 70 chips. With that many Di Swirls being bandied about, I felt one of us could get burnt by morning.

She was quite deflated the next afternoon in my office when I told her what they were.

The guy that has them thinks they are very valuable from the different stories several people have told him. OR, he knew exactly what he had and thought playing them for $25 on the tables was a better price than we would pay. Most casino floor people and dealers are aware of our hobby but are not versed in molds, prices, etc. Any odd or old looking chip looks like a profit to them.

The one I saw was in decent shape. I offered $25 for 1 chip.
