I've followed most of the action on this since the Silver Eagle closed down. I've gone from rooting for the flynns to agreeing with the Gaming comission currently.

A little background. The Flynn's had the license for the Silver Eagle in Dubuque. Due to location and Gaming regs the boat didn't stand a chance. The Iowa boats Didn't have boarding times when they were tied up. OK I said let them change location.

Then the legislature changed the laws and basicly tailored it so that only Rosemont filled the bill. Origionally Cook County (only) was excluded from having Riverboats. That Exclusion was lifted and Crusing requirements were Lifted (Hurrah you wouldn't believe how many unwanted CRUISES I had to take to collect a few chips)

So under more carefull scrutiny the Flynn's were deemed unsuitable to hold a gaming license and the license was considered forfeit. I feel sorry for some of the Minor shareholders. Walter Payton's wife and Roger Eberts wife are two of them. So getting back to the story. Construction of the Boat, Parking deck, and Pavillion was started before the Gaming comission ruled on the License. Construction was halted and more investigations were implimented.

I really dont have a problem with MGM/Mirage taking over and finishing the 10th license but I don't see how someone can sell something they don't have. I think that the 10th license should be put up for bid and if MGM or whoever wins then fine.

there are a few IL politicians that got in on the ground floor with negligable investment and made obscene returns on their money.

Enough venting. Bring on that 10th boat more chips to collect.
