Re: Why do eBay sellers have to resort to b.s.?

Thanks for the clarification. If the seller, here, was telling the truth than it is possible that he had changed the discription along with his "Title Line" after the chips had sold out. He claims that he made the change when no one had bid on his chip(s). However, due to the inconsistancies with his edit in his description, assuming that is what he did, I am still suspicious. If anything positive can come out of this, for Him/Her, as well as us, lessons can be learned by buyers not to take, too seriously, the claims and descriptions that are made. Buyers need to arm themselves with personal knowledge and use that when deciding how bad they want a given item. Also, for sellers, be careful and proofread your descriptions to avoid such things as mixing past with present tense and other things that can put confusion in your writing. That only will serve to make people suspicious of your integrity. If you are clear, factual and honest you will probably not have so much trouble. A note here to those who are just starting out selling on eBay. Something that I am anticipating when I think of selling something. If you do not have a large number of feedbacks, you may not get as many bidders. Avoid trying to overstate your items to compensate for this. That may cause buyers to be dissappointed and result in neg feedback. Whats worst than having 9 feedbacks and no negatives is having 20 feedbacks with as few as 2 or 3 negatives. Like they say, If you treat someone right, you might not get any notice or comment. However if you treat someone bad and they tell a couple of friends and so on. Negative feedbacks will probably hurt you more than the positives will help.

Maybe an experienced eBayer can give an opinion here. This is why I am considering selling quality but not significant items to begin with and reserving my premium items for later when I have established some positive feedback. Wouldn't want to put up a valuable premium chip or collectable right off and have someone get it too cheep because no one else took a chance on me.
