This is an update on the Opera House NCV sets whose initial purpose was to raise funds for those most directly effected by the September 11th terrorist attacks.

To date, I'm pleased to report that over $5000 has either been raised or is pending. Although this is very gratifying, it is only 1/3 of the way to this project's ultimate goal of $15,000.

We are all very aware of our country's military efforts in the war on terrorism. The casualties we all dreaded among our service personnel are now a reality. Several of you have expressed the interest in charitable organizations which directly seek to help the military (both past and present) and their families.

Here is a list of ten different charities which I'm sure you will agree will offer you a wide range of giving opportunities.

Angel Flight for Veterans - Helps provide free air transportation for military, veterans and their families to distant medical centers. Health care must continue when travel funds initially provided are exhausted.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust - Your gift provides food, shelter and medical aid to homeless veterans, transportation to medical facilities, counseling and rehabilitation services for amputee and other severely disabled veterans.

Fisher House Foundation - Contributions directed here will help build and support Fisher Houses. These homes provide a compassionate supportive environment for families of seriously ill patients being treated at military/VA medical centers around the country.

Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation – This organization provides financial aid for disabled children of Marines. It also funds scholarships for children of Marines and Federal law enforcement personnel whose parent died on duty.

Military Chaplains Association of the USA - Your gift helps us in working to preserve the chaplain's critical role in caring for America's military — active duty, reserve, and veterans.

National Military Family Association - The only "Voice for Military Families" dedicated solely to improving quality of life for children and families of active duty, reserve and retired service personnel.

Paralyzed Veterans of America – This organization provides educational grants for projects which increase the knowledge and skills of persons with spinal cord injury or dysfunction, their families and health care providers.

Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association - We provide scholarships to dependents of US Military Personnel declared MIA/KIA in armed conflicts from Vietnam through the present and aircrews killed performing aircraft duties.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation - We provide scholarships and educational counseling to children surviving Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps Special Operations personnel killed in the line of duty.

Vietnam Veterans Assistance Fund - We’re Vietnam veterans helping disabled, homeless and needy Vietnam-era veterans with shelter, employment, counseling and medical benefits assistance with appreciation for their service to America.

We really need your help you reach our goal of raising $15,000 from the chip collecting community. If you have been reluctant to purchase a set of this chips because you believe the relief effort is already well funded, here is a chance to contribute to organizations that will support those who have given so much to support our freedom.

These sets can be obtained in one of two ways:

+ For those of you in the Las Vegas area, you can simply go to the Opera house Casino at 2542 Las Vegas Blvd, North.

+ Sets are also be available by mail. CC>CC members can send a check or money order to the address shown below. The minimum donation for mail orders should be $100 + $3.50 for P&H and insurance, $103.50 total. Your check or money order should be made payable to the Opera House Casino and mailed to:

Your choice of organization should be communicated at the Opera House or with your mailed request. Any funds received without a specific charity mentioned will be allocated among those suggested.

To order your set by mail, please reply to this e-mail. I'll then send you back a confirmation and expect for your check or money order for a minimum of $103.50.
