I Too Was a Victim of a Five Finger Discount

Charles:

I'm really sorry to hear about your misfortunate, I hope you get the insurance claim resolved as quickly as possible. I had this happen to me once just after I started on buying on eBay. For this particular seller I won two of his auctions, The first was a $1 Boardwalk (Las Vegas) house chip and the second an $1 Mirage house chip, I sent him $3.00 to cover the cost of shipping/handling and insurance, A few days later I get a regular letter envelope in the mail which look like it had been to hell and back, Both of the chips were M.I.A. and the only thing was still in the envelope was a thank for buying from my auction note from the Seller, Needless to say I flipped out and called the seller and asked him why he didn't put the chips in an insulated or bubble mailer (I paid for it!) his response was that he did not have time to buy any and that he didn't want to kept me waiting so he just sent it out in a regular envelope with NO protection whatsoever and to make matters worst he also didn't put insurance on it (Again which I paid for!) When I asked for my money back he flat out refused and he eventually stopped taking my phone calls and e-mails. About a year and a half later I get this check in the mail from him with an apology for any problems that he may have caused, I later found out that one of the other buyers he ripped off was the daughter of a federal prosecutor in Minnesota and the father threaten to charge him with multiple counts of mail fraud.

Speaking insulated and bubble mailers the only good thing that the post office has ever done for me is about a year or so ago they decided that their insulated envelopes were too plain looking so they changed it to now be white with the USPS logo as a result my local post office still has thousands of the old style brown insulated envelopes in stock and so when I go to buy stamps or whatever I buy at least 20 of the old style insulated envelopes because when I bought one I got one free so I save myself at least $10.00 everytime I need insulated envelopes.
