A few interesting finds.....Tunica trip report.

I found a few interesting things on my trip to Tunica this last week. I found the New Southport Club matchbook in a Memphis antique shop and I think that it is interesting since there can be no question that the club had Roulette, Craps and Chuck-a-luck. I also ran across the Jubillation and Cotton Club EZ Money slot cards which I will be putting on Ebay soon. Somehow a few roulette chips that I don't have in my collection ended up in my pockets. I didn't make any fantastic chip finds except for one that is not listed in TCR which I will post when I get a chance. So what has changed in Tunica lately? Well not much. The Isle of Capri in Lula has completly redone the layout of the old Lady Luck's two boats and I didn't see the Richochet table anywhere. The Grand (where I stayed) still has massive restaurant problems. There were only three choices on the breakfast menu for the only restaurant open for breakfast. The new buffet was to open the day I left so that was not even an option. They will also be geting rid of the Big Sky restaurant (the only moderate priced restaurant in the place) in favor of an expanded sports bar on the second floor. Big mistake. Tunica properties need to take a hint from Las Vegas and learn what the words "Coffee Shop" mean. The only thing new at Gold Strike is the new slot card good at any of the Mandalay properties. Sam's Town still has the only silver Strike machine in Tunica. Several of the casinos have rearranged their table game locations to make room for more slot machines. I have have had a pinched nerve in my back for the last two weeks so the most uncomfortable positions are sitting (as in driving 7 hours to Tunica and playing Blackjack). Needless to say I didn't get much gambling in during my stay.
