... defines obverse as "heads" and reverse as "tails!" Really! grin

In my opinion I would think the obverse (heads) side of a chip (or token) would be the most prominent side; noticable at once with possibly bolder lettering; larger denomination than seen on reverse; more vivid coloring about the subject and would be the side I would keep face up if displaying it. grin Chuck's F-Q "Tiger" chip being an excellent example.

Of course there are no rules, but I bet in the artist's mind while designing the chip he knows which is the obverse and reverse. grin

BTW,the new quarters do not have a date on the obverse. grin
