Robert,

Good answer. The other benefit of a reserve is that it gives you a choice of selling your item a little lower than maybe you originally wanted to. For example, let's say that I wanted $150 for a nice old Sands chip that I have an extra of. Now, if I start it at that and get no bids, I get nowhere. However, let's say it bids up to $125. Depending on my need for cash and/or the person bidding, I may decide to sell. (Maybe its Christmas and I need cash or maybe the bidder is an old friend who gave me a real deal on something once before.)

In general, I know reserves can be annoying, but there are a couple of positives.
