I don't think that SBC will do away with dial up. There are still a lot of folks out there in rural America (my parents) & even in some urban areas that don't have & may never have access to DSL.
I know for a fact that SBC is concentrating on DSL but discontinuing dial up when the equipment is already in place would be leaving money on the table, IMHO.
