Casino gambling is ill-eagle in Texas EXCEPT on Indian reservations and is allowed offshore (12 miles out) on the cruise boats. There are only two Indian casinos in Texas, Speaking Rock (El Paso) and Kickapoo (Eagle Pass) there is however a NEW Indian casino ABOUT to open Alabama Coushatta (relatives to the tribe in Louisiana). The Gambling boats come and go pretty fast. There have been several out of Galveston, Port Aransas (another one due in November), and Corpus Christi. Currently nothing in Galveston, but there is the Fantasea in Texas City (25 min from Galveston), and those in the Corpus/Aransas areas.

Casino Gambling has been voted on in Galveston and has been defeated each time. Each defeat is by a narrower and narrower margin. I expect it soon, a LOT of TEXAS money is going to Louisiana and the politicians DON'T LIKE IT! LOL
