While it's not publicly advertised the US government counterfeits tons of other countries money for strategic purposes. They do so to spread prior to invasion. Large amounts of bad paper will disrupt (skids to a halt) the economy and makes goods hard to get for their side (no one wants the money). Another item that is dropped over the countries are "Cinderellas," those are banknote front, and propaganda backs. People see it and think it's money and read the propaganda. I have some from Desert Storm and am currently putting 'feelers' out for some Afghanistan Cinderellas.
