A Moment of Pride

While in NYC finishing up some paperwork at my office,I took the opportunity of being in the city [NYC] on a Saturday to drop by my local firehouse.

Haz-Mat 1 and Squad #288 reside in my local firehouse. To the best of my knowledge, they suffered the worst losses of any firehouse in NYC. 19 Brave firemen gave their lives while trying to help others.

While I was there to drop of a personal contribution I noticed numerous displays of candles, pictures drawn by local school children, floral boquets and many messages of support attatched to the firehouse door.

In addition while there I found that I wasn't the only one with a contribution nor a message. One young lady had brought a large batch of cookies she had baked for the firefighters along with a letter of support from members of the community. As I was leaving another gentleman passed me with what looked like another contribution in his hand.
People just care.....

THIS is what AMERICA is all about getting together in a moment of darkness to help others.
Something we have done throughout history for others with little or no thanks.

Please take another look at the auction that is posted below by Charlie Kaplan.
I have a nice Haz-mat 1, blue Tee Shirt with the Haz-mat logo emblazoned on it that will accompany the chips for the winning bidder
