Re: Message by an Afghani-American writer (NCR)

In response to Tamin's e-mail I have this to say.
What choice do we have but to respond to this attack on America. Is there anyone out there that feels that Bin Laden is not looking for bigger and more horrible ways to attack our country? Is there anyone out there who feels that germ warfare or a nuclear assault by terrorists is not far behind? Does anyone feel that if left alone that Bin Laden will stop and fade away? I would suggest that all would agree that the answer to the above questions is NO. Given that then we must go after Bin Laden, the Taliban and all other such groups with resolve and determination. We all recognize that most of the people of Afghanistan are victims but they aren't helpless. They can be our partners in getting rid of this disease that has infected them and threatens us. They can provide intelligence, act as guides and fight for their freedom. I've heard many scholastic and religious leaders say that "we should do nothing".
In response all I have to say is remember the words of Edmund Burke, "All that is necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing."

anyone else????
