Re: Views from another Canadian
In Response To: Views from another Canadian ()

I am so thankful to see the support that we get here from those overseas and in Canada. I wouldn't put down your ability to help militarily though. Not all military assistance is in the form of warships and aircraft and infantry troops. There is a lot needed in the form of support troops. I never actually served in the military so I am not sure of the nature of all that assistance but I can speculate that there will be needs for such things as food service, medical, mechanics, intelegance, cargo and personel transport, security and supply and just the manpower to carryout whatever objectives that are necessary. I have heard offers from some countries like Russia where they have offered Diplomatic and Intelegance assistance. In the Gulf War, Japan offered financial assistance and I believe Saudi provided fuel and bases along with air and ground support. Don't forget also that as the US starts to send active duty and reserve forces overseas we will be needing assistance on the home front with Coast Guard and other "Homeland Defense". I am sure there is a reasonable place for everyone that is willing to assist. It isn't as odd as it sounds. There is a residence near me that has always had two flagpoles in front. One flies the Am Flag and the other always has flown the Maple Leaf. I was driving down the street yesterday and found someone who hung the American Flag and the British Flag from their front gate. I heard on the news yesterday that the United States is unique in the world in that we are one of only a few countries that have peaceful boarders. So many countries have been fighting those boundries for centuries. God Bless our friends Like Canada and Great Britain. I hope we can all eradicate this threat once and for all.
