Pete,

you must be upsetting them somehow in your e-mails. vbg

I've never received a nasty e-mail back from anyone I've sent an e-mail to regarding a Silver Strike auction. grin

I did however, receive one back from our old friend Mark of OnlineDeals (Remember him? http://www.thechipboard.com/cgi-bin/tcbarc02/tcbarc02.pl?read=33526 ) that wasn't nasty but just claiming I was wrong on my assertions that the token wasn't solid silver.

I now have a standard e-mail I send to most auction Seller's when I find auctions that have descriptions that make claims about Silver Strikes that aren't correct.

I just usually fill in the parts that need completing and sometimes add images when necessary and extra descriptions.

Here's my standard form...

Hi,

I see you have an auction running on E-bay listing a $10 Nevada Silver Premium Gaming token (Silver Strike). Just though I'd give you some more information regarding the token you have at auction on E-Bay. NOT any faults on your part.

"REPEAT", NOT any faults on your part.

ITEM:
---I INSERT THE ITEM TITLE AND ITEM NUMBER HERE---

YOUR DESCRIPTION
---I INSERT THEIR ACTUAL DESCRIPTION THEY'VE POSTED WITH THE AUCTION HERE ---

This info relates ONLY to the $10 tokens.

Most collectors do know that the $10 Nevada Silver Premium Gaming tokens are NOT a solid silver token and contain NO gold on the rim.

The token is actually a Bi-Metallic token(Weighing approx 1.2 troy oz.) where the center silver portion is inserted into a highly polished "SOLID BRASS" ring. The Nevada Gaming Commission ruled in late 1997 that Anchor Gaming(now Anchor Coin), would change the policy of stamping a metal "999 Fine Silver" on a metal that was not .999 Fine Silver. They have since moved the inscriptions on all "Revised" and new tokens to the center portion of the token.

The token in reality contains just over ½ ounce of Silver. (~$2.50)

And it IS surprising how "HIGHLY POLISHED BRASS" amazingly can resemble "gold electroplating".

Assays of a some of the $10 Nevada Silver Strikes can be found on my website at:

I look forward to seeing how your token sells as I do use some of the prices realized in auctions in setting prices in my guide.

Sincerely,
Marv Weaver
