Re: "We?" Who is "we"?

"We should be organizing some kind of educational effort for that 90% of our membership that doesn't read this board....."

I thought that the SlabFree Chapter does exactly what you are suggesting Jim ... within our financial means.

"We" were the biggest advertiser in the last issue of the club magazine (3 full page paid ads) on pages 64, 65, 66. The previous issue (April, May, June) had extensive coverage of the slabbing issue ... even the front cover of the magazine was dedicated to the subject for those 90% you spoke about. "We" have taken tables at past chip shows to publicize and educate those collectors who are not on-line and will be distributing information at future chip shows. COINage Magazine was so interested in the subject, that they did a feature on this controversial issue in a recent issue of their Internationally distributed magazine. Jackpot auctions is so strongly in favor of getting the message out, that they are conducting special auctions with all the proceeds going to SlabFree.

It costs money to educate those who are not reading these daily posts. $5 lifetime dues to SlabFree can only accomplish so much. Individuals can only accomplish so much. Some are doing more than their share by keeping the subject alive through posts on these bulletin boards and bringing to the attention of those who would be deceived by pro-slabbers using fake identifications.

Those who are not interested in reading about the slabbing issue, or who are offended by the messages, can simply skip the posts that deal with the subject. For those newcomers to the bulletin board, I would strongly sugggest for them to read the primer at the top of this message board For First Time Users.

This issue is not about to simply go away... nor will it be swept under the rug like some folks who are indifferent to this problem would like to see happen. These posted message, like advertisements on television, must be kept before the audience reading about it so that it does not "go away" like a toothache and forgotten about until it surfaces again sometime down the road. The infected slabbed tooth must ewventually be extracted from our club's conventions before the slabbing pain will subside.

Having said that, if there are those who wish to collect or invest in slabbed casino chips after all the cards have been laid on the table .... nobody is stopping you. Do your own thing. I just don't appreciate hustlers and ringers with fake names being brought into the game and promoters bragging about their past multi-millions of dollars they are bringing to the table....
