Original Barona Casino,San Diego County. The cardroom opened about 1990,I'd estimate. The Eastman Guide says it opened in 1984,but this must refer to the bingo hall. The cardroom was just an annex to the bingo hall, which was the size of a gym. There also exists a matching $5 with 4 pink and 4 grey. There were only a few tables and no higher denom chips,I beleive. They closed the cardroom in a matter of months because they couldn't compete with the other two San Diego Indian cardrooms, which were already established, bigger, and nearer the interstate.I went back when I heard they had reopened, about a year later, and found a much larger operation with the inlaid chips in play, which touted it as "San Diego's Casino".I asked about the hotstamped chips at that time, but they said they had none.I never saw them come out again since then.Makes you wonder what Indian casinos do with their old chips.
