This is a prime textbook example of what happens with ordinary "hobby" items that become slabbed. This Ebay offering could serve as a poster for the SlabFree Chapter, illustrating the abuses of slabbing that is coming into our hobby if our elected Board of club officers allows it.

Did you notice the seller's i.d. screen name? "havingfuncollecting" ..... what a joke! I would think that "havingfungouging" ... or "havingfunspeculating" ... or "havingfunprofiteering" ... would be more appropriate.

Did you read the seller's glowing superlative ebay description that accompanied his/her common Washington hyped-up quarter, dated 2001, of which MILLIONS were made?

Did you pay attention to the grade assigned by PCGS... "MS68"! If this quarter is so perfect, how come a MS70 grade was not assigned? On the other hand, if this quarter is worth $2,475 as a MS68, how much do you think the seller would be asking if it had received the highest possible grade of MS70? (BTW: "MS" stands for Mint State for those unfamiliar with the term.)

Is this the kind of grading/slabbing abuse that we want in OUR hobby? I think NOT!
