To blend the subjects of a couple of recent threads on The ChipBoard, I may be homeless soon myself. After going to bed at 3am My brother came in to wake me at about quarter to 6. You will never believe what I found, he said. He then began to tell me of how he went to the basement to change some laundry and heard a squeeking noise and scratching coming from one of the basement windows. He looked out with his trusty MagLight to find a skunk trapped in the window well. The humanitarian and animal lover that he is he put a 5' piece of garden fence in so the skunk could climb out. Good Idea? Didn't work. My brother comes running in. OH **** he went off. The fence fell in crooked scaring the little bugger. About a minute later, OH well, Needless to say all the pillows on my bed, plastered to my face could not help. Plan B. Emergency call to the police and Animal Control. The AC officer arrived about 5min later screaming into the driveway like something out of the old series, Emergency. The Animal Warden proceeded to pull out his trusty .22 and Bang. I don't know what is worse, The skunk or the bleach he poured down the window to neutralize it. The Animal Warden said he would be back to pick up the skunk later when it "Cools Off".

Meanwhile, my brother tried to go back to the basement to assess the damage. He opened the door and was promptly hit like a ton of bricks with the offensive combination of bleach and skunk. With the house all sealed up to keep the smell out and the door closed to the basement to keep whatever is down there, down there, we can still get occasional whiffs of the smell. Where is that coming from he says, OH MY GOD IT IS THE AIR CONDITIONING. He has now, for the time being, turned off the AC and the fans to keep from distributing it through the whole house.

While at 7am it is only 65 degrees it is not too bad. However, with temps of 80 expected with scattered showers this evening I am sure the humidity and temps are going to make for a real interesting day.
