Atlanta ANA coin show report

While I was asking 450 coin dealers at the annual ANA convention on Wednesday if they had any casino chips to sell, Cindy was manning (womanning?) the CC>CC table which was right by the main entrance to the show. She and the other helpers passed out some applications and even signed up one new member. As far as what was available in the way of chips there were three serious chip dealers there. Henry Garrett was there and I was pleased to see that he had only ONE slabbed chip in his whole display. Maybe the message is sinking in. What else was out there? Not much. I did get a set of obsolete Casinos Austria jetons, a 2/6 Charlie Chester (London), and a MXO hub that I don't have identification on. I also picked up 15 silver strikes at face value. There were a few other chips out there but who wants to pay twice book value for them? The one that sticks in mind was a Claridge Hi-Ho $100 for $425. One of the three chip dealers had some $5 chips for $5.50 so I picked up a few of the better ones. Had a great time and spent all day looking for chips. Next week is the 450 mile long Highway 127 flea market where I will be travelling from Crossville, TN north to at least Lexington, KY while on my way to the Ohio River Chapter meeting on Saturday. I sure hope that it isn't 95+ degrees out like last year.
