With active membership in April of approximately 2431 ( http://www.ccgtcc.com/cgi-bin/mbarc01/webbbs_config.pl?read=8037 ) only 717 (highest number of total votes) cared enough about our club to take any interest in where our club is going.

Only 29.49% of the total membership even cared enough about the election or slabbing to VOTE.

Who knows what the other 1714 (70.51%) non voting members concerns are regarding the slabbing issue.

MY OPINION - *Who Cares, Anyway?*

"THE LIST" AND THE PLEDGE....

*****After subtracting a possible 28 non member (those that don't show a membership number) names off of the current slabbing list of 353 that leaves 325 members who oppose slabbing.

325 members is 13.36% of the entire membership. IT"S ALSO JUST 2.13% SHORT OF 1/2 OF THE TOTAL PERCENTAGE THAT VOTED FOR PRESIDENT

I am not suggesting that all the club members on "THE LIST" actually voted.

However, 325 members who actively support THE PLEDGE is a SIGNIFICANT number.

NOR can I ignore those who are members of the SlabFREE Chapter who do not support the "THE LIST" and its "PLEDGE" as it is written. I have no idea what this number may be.

Could it be interpreted that members on "THE LIST" have a greater concern for our club than the membership at large that did not vote?

Why should 325+ members who constitute an ACTIVE PART in the CLUB and actively let their concerns be PUBLICIZED by being on "THE LIST" or are SlabFREE Chapter members keep having it thrown in their faces the suggestion that the other non voting non participating 1714 MEMBERS (THE SILENT MAJORITY) are actively supporting slabbing or the club. If these 1714 members want slabbing in our hobby and our club activities, why haven't they started their own "LIST" or CHAPTER"? I suggest that they should become active and proclaim their stand FOR Slabbing. Otherwise, I see no MAJOR Membership number PRO-SLABBING.

NOW IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, this is not a scientific result nor does it really mean anything. What it DOES mean is that 1714 members (70.51%) of our club membership do not care what happens internally within OUR club!

MY FEELINGS CONCERNING A BAN OF SLABS AT THE CONVENTION

While I have taken THE PLEDGE and am a member of the SlabFREE Chapter, I do not support a total ban of Slabbed Chips and Tokens at the convention. I believe that the SLABBING Companies should be banned from having a table at the convention. They are not selling casino chips and tokens. The table space should be limited to dealers who do sell chips and tokens. NOT WITHSTANDING THEY BROKE THEIR CONTRACTS BY LEAVING EARLY AT THE LAST CONVENTION.

I feel that our dealers who sell slabbed chips and tokens will see how much their sells drop due to members on "THE LIST" who will not buy from them. This alone may be a major incentive for them to not sell them. I remember seeing at least one slabber's table at the convention that I never saw one person at, the many times I walked by.

This is also a GREAT outlet for the SlabFREE Chapter and members who disagree with slabbing to educate the NEW and OLD members alike as to why slabbing is detremental to our hobby.

As for the AUCTION!!! I have a major problem with this situation.

By allowing the sell of slabbed items in the CLUB Auction the Club is directly profiting from the sale of Slabbed chips and tokens. My pledge "I will NOT buy ANY casino chip or token from any dealer who sells slabbed casino chips or tokens.", tells me that while the club is not exactly the dealer it has now become the agent's for such dealers and is profiting by the sell of slabs and that in my mind that makes the club a dealer of slabbed chips and tokens.

Although I have never placed an item into the auction, I have in the past attended the auction and have purchased very few items.

I will NOT attend or submit any items to the club auction unless this situation is reversed.
