Greg, this mold first appeared on the Barona chip you show about 1+ year ago. Prior to Prop 1-A and during the time that Calif. Indian casinos still needed to order from "alternative" chip distributors because the major Nevada suppliers couldn't sell to them.

I think these were ordered through a distributor called Atlantic City Casino Games. (Located in Riverside, CA...even though the name doesn't sound like it.) I went out to their showroom one time and picked up some of their fantasy "Silver Peaks" chips, as shown in the link from their page.
