Brian, in 40 years of collecting, you can accumulate a lot of stuff.
Actually I started getting chips signed because I had been collecting autographs since the Cincinnati Reds played at old Crosley Field. I think my 1st one was Frank Robinson in his rookie year. I have gotten well over 1,000 baseball cards and 300 baseballs signed since then.
Maurey Wills brought me a baseball signed by Hank Arron on the day he tied Ruth's record in Riverfront Stadium. He told me it was "the Ball". I said, "yeah right", but I'll treasure it anyway.
I also have one of the "amazing Mets" world series balls signed by the entire team.
Boxers, I got a bunch of them, including a picture from the Thriller In Manilla signed by both Ali & Frazier. I got the copywritten picture of Tyson biting Holyfields ear and got Holyfield to sign it. About 6 months later, I stuck it out to Tyson to sign. Wasn't sure if he would sign it or punch me. He grumbled something but he signed it.
Somewhere along the line, I wound up with about 100 TV and movie scripts signed by the casts. This was through a chip collector that worked for the production company.
I just turned over all of this "stuff" to my 9 year old grandson to decorate his new room with. Fortunetly there was an autographed Joe Montana in the bunch or I would have been in trouble.
When you are a pack rat, you just accumulate "Things"
