I haven't seen an article locally about it but I did hear the rumor. I do not get a chance to read the papers often enough. I could have missed something. Last article I read was that the Illinois Gaming Board pulled the license of the people who were building the Barge. It seems that some of them had connections with gaming board officials(?) and at least one had connections with the Rosemont Mayor and "Known ties to Organized Crime". The story was about how Mayor Stephens has filed suit against an Illinois official for defamation for alleging ties between him and Org.Crime in a report to the gaming board. Governor Ryan has replaced some members of the board and the legislature is starting to question Gaming Officials about their inability to resolve the situation. Some RUMORS that I have heard are that MGM was in Rosemont to take a look.

Also, on a similar note, I do not know if there has yet been any resolution to the situation with Empress in Joliet. Binion purchased Empress and the Illinois Gaming Board denied him a license too. He took over the boats in Indiana but last I heard still needs to sell off Joliet. Heard one rumor before that Wynn might have been interested at one time. I will keep an eye out and will do a search. If I find anything I will post.
