I agree, the good old-fashioned BB gun works very well. But if you feel sorry for the "rats with wings" or are in an area where you can't shoot a BB gun, just simply throw something close to them until they fly away. After a couple of times they will stay away, but it only lasts a week or two and then you have to do it again. It'll come to the point where, if they see you coming, they'll fly away on their own. They seem to be quite intelligent.
