Wow, an Idaho chip! Those don't show up often. ANY chip from Idaho has to be considered illegal, as gambling was never specifically legalized by the state (with the exception of slot machines). More recently, gaming was expressly prohibited. Now, that sure doesn't mean that there hasn't been many games over the years, and chips as well.
Yes, Wallace, Idaho is the same city of "Wallace Corner" fame. The large mines in the area ensured many illegal games over the years. The ore played out, and the games went the same direction. 1980 would still be early enough for games (you could even find whorehouses--also illegal--at that late date in Wallace).
The Wallace Corner chips are from the 30s. I still have a couple of the colors in the scan remaining.
