I got an error message like that just recently when I bought a new 32m chip. Turns out my Flashpath adapter only works with UP TO a 16m chip. When using greater than a 16m chip, I have to use a serial cable to download the pix to the computer. You may have a different Flashpath adapter so the above might not be YOUR problem.
