These Mother-of-Pearl gambling chips came up to Miami from Uruguay this Winter. The way they're made is quite unusual for what we know coming from Europe in the 19th Century and early-20th Century, as these pieces have a raised rim such as a plastic European jeton does -- a style I've never seen before with nacre.

The design looks kind of Aztecan to me.
