Re: Walkie Talkie Question
In Response To: Walkie Talkie Question ()

I read a couple of boards and Newsgroups about Vegas. This subject comes up there often. For more info, I might suggest www.deja.com That is a search engine that will search USENET Newsgroups. Type in FRS or Family Radios and type in Las Vegas or Casinos. These search requests will get you many replies to the same question.

From what I have read, there is no problem with them in the casinos. They seem to be more and more popular. I would caution though that as Larry Hollibough wrote in http://www.thechipboard.com/cgi-bin/tcb/tcb.pl?read=146607 , that you may not be allowed to use them at the table due to concerns of cheating. Cell Phones may be less of a concern in that it is more obvious and they can observe you. However, with two way radios, you could be sending messages back and forth to accomplaces about a dealers hole card etc. Also as mentioned in many posts, they will not be allowed near Sports book. Probably to keep from illegal betting outside of the casinos. Someone mentioned the comparison of odds between casinos. That may be the case too. I am not a sports better so I do not understand all the reasons for the law. I have read many times though that cell phones are illegal in sports book. I would assume that FRS are too.

Regardless of whether they are allowed at tables or not, It would be the most courteous thing to do if you have to make or receive a call on cell or FRS to wait till between hands and ask the dealer to deal you out. Step away from the table and do your business and then go back and play. This will allow the other players to continue without any slow down and will keep distractions to a minimum.
