Jim - you had better run a full virus scan because this is a worm and even if you didn't execute anything, it can attach itself in your root directory.

To others: the subject line contained some characters.. something like #%@! The e-mail had no data to preview - it seemed blank but in reality- the virus is hidden in there somewhere.
I have emailed him (as I always do) to warn him but this threat appears to have included a chippers distribution list - DO NOT open an e-mail from Peter today if you received one. (Sorry Peter!) IF YOU DID open the e-mail - UPDATE YOUR DAT FILES and CHECK YOUR SYSTEM. This is a relatively new virus (and another was discovered 2 days ago with a high distr. rating already) - IF YOU DON'T UPDATE YOUR DATs (virus data files) DAILY -- if not weekly -- you are susceptible to infection.

ALSO - this virus targets one's e-mail address book. Anyone who has had e-mail contact with Peter may have automatically been targeted. (He may not have sent a thing this morning... but the virus did. Being Peter has been selling a large portion of his collection... MANY MANY of us have had correspondence with him.

All I can say is: GO NORTON!!! It is the best $60 - $70 investment I have ever made for computer sanity. MCAfee missed the virus I discovered I had in Oct. I switched to Norton at that time and I receive virus warnings on a regular basis... 2-3 a week sometimes (like this week - I got 2) McAfee never alerted me ONCE to anything EVER - but Norton has protected my system no less than 30+ times in less than a year...
