Jim... Pinging is Really Easy...

In a recent message, Jim Gardner said:

Yes AOL does use most of it's IP addresses in the 100 range but they also occassional will use lower IP addresses depending on their backbone provider.

Yup, I'm just your everyday Internet spy (whoops did I say that out loud, Damn!) but seriously I am not really pinging your account just your Internet connection to see what Internet provider you are coming from and what the lag time (if any) is from my computer to your computer,

This is how you do it (Shhh.... I'm giving away top secret Internet tips!!):

From Your MS-DOS Prompt (i.e. C:>) type the following:

Ping -a IP ADDRESS HERE

For example if you wanted to ping my IP address you would type from your MS-DOS Prompt:

Ping -a 63.253.89.133

Of course most people would not know that your pinging them unless they had a personal firewall on their computer in which case a log would be left and I would know who was pinging me and trying to get information about my IP address.

Hope this answered your question Jim.
