UNKNOWN CASINOS (to us): ITALY

Recorded history tells us that shortly after WWII, northern Italy was faced with the problem of tourism reconstruction, and in its feverish efforts to get tourism rolling again in 1945 and '46, the area had to make up for lost time as quickly as possible and seize every possible opportunity.

In order for the region to compete, it had to adopt the same structures and techniques as its rivals across their border.

Knowing that casinos would be a very useful source of funds to rebuild, organized casinos were set up and given concessions while some not-so-organized casinos with local licenses and authorizations had been springing up all over the area, often without any technical or financial underpinning. Within a few months, however, most had all been closed down by the central government.

I'm searching for the names of these short-lived, casinos along with trying to match up monogrammed chips and plaques found in the area.

In doing my research, I did find one casino a while back that was way to the south (Sicily), but it was formed some 15-years later: Casino Taorminia, but still a casino not known to us, prior.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
